A very significant chapter in my life. I have no shortage of stories from my time at KFC. I have learned a lot. I have laughed a lot. I have cried a lot. It’s taken a huge toll on my health. It’s forced me to develop some new skills. All that said, I think it was necessary and might have saved me. Maybe not KFC… but Bermuda has.
Over the years, people have suggested that I make a video of the store and share it. They hear my stories about the building and the people and wonder what’s it’s like. On the last morning working at KFC I finally made that video. I hope you enjoy it.
So, my last day at KFC… well my last ‘official’ day anyways. Of course I ended up spending a little more time there. But my last official day was epic (of course). Why would I have expected anything different?
Showed up Sunday morning and the office computer wasn’t working. It seemed like it might be an issue with the internet so I tried a few times. I realized that I had WiFi so it probably wasn’t the internet connection. I messaged our IT support from my personal email. They responded within 10 minutes (before 8am on a Sunday! Those guys are good!)
Turned out that the server had crashed and we had lost a lot of data. While IT did eventually restore most of it from back up tapes, we lost about one week of data. Did what I could to recreate and update files before I left. What a day!
